Trump Put Tariffs On Taiwanese Chips

Trump is threatening to impose a tariff of up to 100% on Taiwan's semiconductor industry.

Our Analysis

Trump is threatening to impose a tariff of up to 100% on Taiwan's semiconductor industry. This will both drastically raise prices on American consumer goods, as chipset use is widespread, and embolden those who wish to take over Taiwan.

Since Trump has not yet enacted these tariffs, we are this for now.

What the "other side" did

In 2022, President Biden's administration and congressional democrats spearheaded and passed the CHIPS and Science Act, which funded the domestic research and manufacturing of semiconductors. It accomplished this without attacking our ally, Taiwan, or emboldening China.

Now, these plants are coming online due to the success of the CHIPS act.
