Trump Made It Easier To Launder Money

Trump green lit money laundering by refusing to enforce the Corporate Transparency Act.

Our Analysis

Trump said he would not enforce the Corporate Transparency Act, which required shell companies to disclose their true owners and beneficiaries.

By doing so, Trump gives a green light to money laundering, which is where money obtained through illegal means (sex and drug trafficking, terrorism, etc.) is "laundered" into money that seems like it was earned legally.

What the "other side" did

To combat terrorism and money laundering, Democrats and very few Republicans passed the now-defunct Corporate Transparency Act, which required shell companies to disclose who actually benefits from them.
