Trump Killed the National Electric Vehicle Charging Program

Trump ordered states to stop implementing a $5 billion program to install EV charging stations across the country.

Our Analysis

While the U.S. lacks sufficient EV chargers, which hurts the EV auto market and allows China to take the lead, Trump ordered states to stop implementing a $5 billion program to install EV charging stations across the country. This funding was specifically for states to put chargers on highways and other strategic places.

Since the funding is frozen for now and has not yet been permanently killed, we're this for now.

What the "other side" did

EV vehicles are a large part of the future of global transportation, and President Biden did not want the America.'s infrastructure to lag behind the rest of the world. He supported the EV transition with many different policies and grants in addition to the Inflation Reduction Act's EV tax credits, including the $5 billion charging program Trump ordered to halt.
