Trump Deleted Database Tracking Federal Police Misconduct

Trump made it far more difficult to hold federal police accountable for misconduct.

Our Analysis

Trump deleted a national database that documented federal police misconduct, because it did things like promote "equitable policing".

Before it was deleted, this database was an important tool of transparency that made it harder for those who were disciplined for misconduct to simply transfer to another department and remain in law enforcement.

This database is now gone, making it far easier for corrupt police to avoid consequences.

Interestingly, Trump himself proposed, but did not create this database during his first term.

What the "other side" did

Although Trump first proposed this database, he did not actually create it.

President Biden, however, did. This promoted police accountability by ensuring that officers who committed misconduct could not simply flee to another agency and hide from their prior bad actions.
