Trump Brought Back Overdraft Fees

Trump ended a Biden-created cap on bank overdraft fees set to take effect in October, 2025

Our Analysis

A $5 cap on bank overdraft fees, which cost Americans more than $6 billion per year, was set to take effect in October 2025 until Trump and Republicans removed it.

This cap would have saved Americans a massive amount of money that now, because of Trump, will instead line the pockets of wealthy banking executives and shareholders.

What the "other side" did

The Biden Administration, to reduce the predatory overdraft fees charged by banks, instituted a cap on overdraft fees to $5 in most cases, which would have saved Americans nearly $5 billion per year.

This cap would have taken effect in October 2025, had Trump not brought the fees back.
